I’ve got two jobs: middle-school science teacher and CrossFit trainer. I love them both. After spending countless hours in a typical gym but not seeing a lot of progress, I started following the workouts on crossfit.com. That’s when I realized how not in shape I was. It was a challenge, both mentally and physically. But I quickly got hooked.
It wasn’t until I came to CrossFit Seattle and started working with Dave and Scott that I learned there were bundles of things I was doing wrong. They’re tremendous teachers. That, to me, is the big reason for coming here: to get coaching. Most people don’t just naturally figure this stuff out on their own.
Eventually, I loved what I was doing so much, I decided to become a certified CrossFit trainer. I’ve come to understand there’s a real art and science to training people. Clients say I have a knack for breaking the workouts down into steps, so everyone gets it. And I am always seeking out new ideas.
There’s an energy to this place that’s quite remarkable. Our members walk in the door with a wide range of abilities, yet we can meet everybody’s needs. I’ve trained older people and high schoolers and kids even younger. Everybody gets to play, and everybody can benefit.
That’s why I love working here: it doesn’t feel like work.
