About Level 4 CrossFit Seattle
CrossFit Seattle (formerly CrossFit North) started in a little one car garage in the fall of 2002. We are the first CrossFit affiliate of now over 1000 affiliates worldwide. CrossFit is a grassroots movement that is taking the fitness world by surprise.
After a back injury ended his Navy career, Dave Werner found himself with increasing chronic back pain and partial paralysis of one leg. Exploring self-rehabilitation through physical training, he learned methods including martial arts, Russian kettlebells, CrossFit training, and Olympic-style weightlifting. He and his training partner, Nick Nibler, studied these techniques together and coached each other. Their dedication and success with training grew to include training clients at CrossFit North.
The success of CrossFit North and the popularity of the workouts prompted Dave to dedicate himself to full-time coaching and to open Level 4 CrossFit Seattle.
-
We're not training muscles and strength for their own sake. We train movement-movement that lets people enjoy whatever it is they're doing, whether it's high-level sports, gardening, or cleaning out the garage. Those are all about lifting, twisting, pushing, the full range of human movement. We train people to move their bodies effectively, powerfully, athletically, pain-free. And then, movement is fun.
-Dave Werner, head trainer
Methodology
All workouts are designed and coached by a trainer. The trainer leads clients through increasingly athletic movements, guiding people of all ability levels toward improved health and athletic ability. Our clients say the personal training and the group workouts are fun and challenging. Clients' sense of fun and variety (never knowing what the workout will be until they arrive) keeps them coming back, so that they get the results they want.
Equipment
Using a wide variety of equipment increases the skill demand and interest level. Level 4 gym equipment includes: Concept 2 rowing machines, pull-up bars, parallel bars and parallettes, dumbbells, Olympic barbells and plates, lifting floors that allow weights to be dropped (for safer lifting), kettlebells, climbing ropes, gymnastics rings, a pommel horse, tumbling mats, stall bars, jump ropes, 20-inch jump-up platforms, and space to run.
